Advent Recollection November 23 2013 Assumption Chapel podcast

Main Points: 

• Understand more the mystery of the word becoming flesh. John 1 verse 14.
• Theme, God says I want to be with my people . Love desires closeness. Incarnation has to continue.
• Verbum domini 28. All called to reproduce mystery of incarnation in our own lives.
• Annunciation first step 1. Listening. Mary helps simplify our faith. Mary helps us listen. Quality of listening to God.
• Vigilance in listening. They were waiting for the Messiah. The King of kings in the most lowly of places. Manger is  lowly not as lowly as the cross.
• John 14.  V 23.
• St. Bernard three comings one in invisible. Vigilant. If we have preparation.
• Second step assimilate takes time for flavor analogy.  Mary allows Word to challenge her, need it. In our life too fast. Process takes time. Be patient . Mary treasured . Mary teaches us how to assimilate. Reality , as we are with Jesus as we are with everybody else. 
•  Live word starts to become flesh. Mary conceived in her heart before the womb. Division faith and life.
• Separation the faith and the life. Devotion must be shown in our life. Determined determination .
• More of a monologue than dialogue. Biggest sin. We refuse to listen to God.  He is there but we don't . Incarnation glass elevators analogy . One goes up 
• Announce / share / give. Immediately after annunciation is the visitation . Mary does not keep Jesus for herself.
• Not just receiving receiving. Not me me . What we receive not only for us . But many people, can't fake giving Jesus. Story parents. TV VCR sky cable . What effect on family. Material more materialistic. What gift will you give?give Jesus. What you sow is what you will reap . Time to prepare,

1. Are you ready for coming? What needs to be prepared ?

2, What stops process word becoming flesh ?

3. What Word are you called to make flesh today? .

4. How can we give Jesus this Christmas to our loved ones?

Luke Chap 9 . He must deny himself take up his cross. Human maturity tolerance to frustration.

Living A Joyful Life With Scriptures Part 2 Assumption Makati Sept 26 2013

As usual tonight Father gave us a lot to think about. The general outline for the pocdcast was very similar to his School of the Word I attended the night before and you can find that here.
The one key phrase I did here tonight was :

There is no depression. Just too much self centeredness.

Living A Joyful Life With Scriptures Part 1 Assumption Makati Sept 19 2013

Thanks for coming. For those of you here for the first time, we have audio of the talk here available for download. Follow the instructions below. Some of the points found in the audio include:

• Beauty word of God. Activate our faith. Living in a more conscious way.
• Story of  8 year old girl. Why Jesus talkative but not talking anymore ??

• Frequent reading of divine scriptures. Excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ.
• Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ St Jerome.
• St Ambrose . We speak to him when we pray . We hear him when we read the divine sayings.
• 1. Listen
• 2. Assimilate we need to understand, grasp. What is the Lord asking us?
• 3. We need to live it out. Third way
• Everything  we pray , prepare to be confronted / challenged. Contrary of notion you go to a retreat to find peace.  Allow ourselves to be challenged by the word of God.
• Castro in Ohio. Went to mass on Sundays. But did he listen?? 
• 4 . Not keep It to ourselves . Evangelize.
• Second Verbum domini post synodal apostolic exhortation. Benedict pope life and mission of the church.
• Number 10. Be realistic. All things hold together in the scripture before all things. The key is Jesus Christ. Center is Christ. Build in a truly sound and lasting way.
• This realism is particularly needed in our own time. Tempted to put our hopes , prove ephemeral,In building our loves we need solid foundations . Whoever builds on this word builds the house of his life on rock. Trying to build life solid ground.
• The main reading is always the Gospel. First reading always old testament. To match theme of the gospel.  Second reading. Following a sequence" we are the prophets . To proclaim the Word , prophet must listen first.
• Amos . Ordinary shepherd . Farmer in Judea . God wants all men to be saved.
• Amos, I was not a prophet , dresser of sycamores. Lord took me from my flock. Amos  , God is not indifferent to the realty of his people.

Assumption August 31 2013 Father Gerson Living A Joyful Life Part 2

Father's main talk was on living a joyful life. You may listen to the whole thing minus most of the technical difficulties. Highlights include:

• Cemeteries wealthiest places on earth.
• Christian joy. Don't keep it bottled up. Man and woman of joy. Christian.
• Three reasons why the Catholic Church loses members to other versions of Christianity.
• The symbolism of the Dragon in Revelations.
• Do you lose authority if you apologize?

Father also showed a very touching video of how good can come from extreme bad. I edited it out but luckily Youtube has the same woman saying the same story and I share the video with you here.

• Invitations . Healthy spirituality eyes open.  
• Speak of somebody who was sensitive . 
• Observation: Fight in order to get places of honor.
•  Invitation to imitate God. Take my yoke. I am meek . Come to me tired and overwhelmed. 
• Christ is our model our point of reference.
